Deborah McCarter-Spaulding

Undergraduate Nursing Professor Deborah McCarter is deservingly receiving the 2024 Excellence in Nursing Award for Academic Nurse Educator-Researcher from the New Hampshire Nursing Association, recognizing her outstanding professional and research accomplishments in healthcare studies.

The New Hampshire Excellence in Nursing Award honors dedicated nurses in the state's healthcare community who demonstrate a commitment to excellence in the nursing profession. Professionals who receive this reward go above and beyond to comfort, heal, and educate individuals within healthcare.

Professor McCarter has worked tremendously to improve childbearing womens’ outcomes as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, nursing professor, and nurse scientist for the last four decades. She is devoted to researching the relationship between postpartum depression symptoms and breastfeeding, breastfeeding confidence, women’s health, gender issues, and global health in all contexts. She will receive her award on May 22 at the annual ceremony in Concord, N.H. Professor McCarter will retire following this spring 2024 semester.
