Curating a Conversation:
Robert Bauer and Elaine Sexton

New York poet and critic Elaine Sexton returns to her native New Hampshire to sit in conversation with artist Robert Bauer.  The first event of its kind for the Chapel Art Center, this event will provide a rare opportunity for a keenly insightful dialogue between the critic and artist.

Director's Tour: Visage and Passage:
Portraits and Landscapes by Robert Bauer

You are cordially invited to a walking tour of the exhibition with Director Iain MacLellan, O.S.B., for an intimate look at the complementary relationship of Bauer's portraits and landscapes, both in terms of their significance as well as their visual appeal.

Night of the Poet with F.D. Reeve:
The Bones of Paradise: Portraits Hidden in Poems

The Chapel Art Center is pleased to welcome the return of American poet and novelist F.D. Reeve, who will recite from a selection of his works, including his latest publication The Blue Cat Occupies the Moon.  Among dozens of other publications, Reeve is author of the novella Nathaniel Purple, The Puzzle Master and Other Poems, and The Blue Cat Walks the Earth. Fine Arts Series:
Piano Concert with Andrew Haringer

Pianist Andrew Haringer, Ph.D., will present "The Sacred Landscape of Liszt's Poetic and Religious Harmonies." Integrating his research and experiences as a pianist, Dr. Haringer focuses on Liszt's early years in Paris, and seeks to show the lasting influence of important artistic, religious, and political mentors that Liszt encountered during this period. Dr. Haringer will perform works by other composers of the early nineteenth century as well. This concert is part of the Fine Arts Series, a collaboration of the Fine Arts Department and the Chapel Art Center.

A light reception will follow each program and event.
