My experience at Saint Anselm provided me the opportunity to develop the critical thinking skills needed in research. In addition, the liberal arts portion of the curriculum allowed me to develop essential writing skills.

Having a laboratory portion with every biology class, especially cell and tissue culture, really prepared me for graduate school and a productive career in pharmaceutical research. Doing a senior research project under the advisement of Dr. Pitocchelli and Dr. Vallari helped me realize that I enjoyed lab work and that I wanted to make research a part of my life. 

I wish I had known when applying to graduate schools that the majority of other undergrad programs only require one lab class. I would have stressed that training in my applications. This is something I would recommend for students applying to graduate school.
