Dr. Ian Durham, of the Physics Department, was the keynote speaker at the Clemson University Symposium for Introduction to Research in Physics and Astronomy (SIRPA) on August 20th. The title of his address was "Outside Schrödinger's Box, or There's More Than One Way to Skin a "Half-dead" Cat: Career advice from a mathematical physicist and erstwhile engineer." The talk focused on liberal-arts college teaching and private industry as potential career paths for Ph.D. level physicists.
