Fr. Bede Camera, O.S.B., now retired, taught a course he developed several years ago called "Creativity for Writers, Artists and Musicians."
Fr. Bede is the founder and former director of the Saint Anselm College Choir. Under Fr. Bede's leadership the choir developed quite a local following, expanded its performance schedule and brought its music internationally with its European Concert Tour Program.
Fr. Bede has a diverse musical background dating back to before he joined the monastery. He received a master's degree in music education from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J., and has studied conducting with such world-renowned conductors as Frauke Haaseman, Constantina Tsalainou, Allen Crowell, James Jordan, and Joseph Flummerfelt.
Fr. Bede is the Abbey choirmaster, and has composed an extensive collection of music that is sung at monastic and college liturgies throughout the year. He is also a member of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians and a regular participant in their conferences and workshops.
