The goal of the mathematics major at Saint Anselm College is to provide our students with the necessary tools to pursue the great variety of career opportunities that exist for mathematics majors today, such as actuarial science, finance, and education.
Students may also major in math with economics or pursue teacher certification in math with the Education Department.
Mathematics majors are able to take advantage of independent studies with faculty members and participate in active research programs with faculty members covering:
- mathematical physics
- the dynamics and mechanics of strings and masses
- geometry
- topology
- stochastic processes
- graph theory
- probability
- ergodic theory
- dynamical systems
- statistics
Mathematics is the quantitative language of the sciences and social sciences. Thus, we welcome students of other majors and encourage communication and cooperation between departments. Students who are interested in teaching math may find additional information on the education web site.
