How can I find out about what's happening on campus?

Many events on campus are promoted through campus email and posters/flyers on campus. There is also an event calendar updated by the Activities Office in lower level Cushing and an online event calendar.

How will I know if classes are cancelled due to inclement weather?

Weather related campus closings are posted on WMUR and WZID (radio 95.7) with the other school closings. Campus Safety and Security also offers an emergency texting service. In the case of a campus emergency or weather related campus closing a text message will be sent out with the information to every that has registered for the service. This is a free service.

What if I do not feel comfortable driving home after I have already gotten to school?

First check with friends. Many students are more than willing to have you stay the night. Multicultural center offers the Host-a-Hawk program. Students on campus have volunteered to allow commuters to stay with them for the night. If you are interested in finding a host, contact the Multicultural Center. Other options include the Cushing building, or the Multicultural Center itself. The Cushing building is always unlocked and the Multicultural Center is open every school night.

What is Host-a-Hawk?

If you are on campus and do not want to drive home during a snowstorm. Students on campus have volunteered to allow commuters to stay with them for the night. If you are interested in finding a host, contact the Multicultural Center.

Where is a good place to study and/or hangout?

  • Multicultural Center (Cushing): Provides a refrigerator, lockers, microwave, sink, and coffee machine that are open for use.

What if I am sick or need medical attention?

All students are encouraged to see help in Health Services if they are sick or need medical attention. If there is an emergency please dial 911.

Why won't my Student ID card let me into any of the residence halls?

Only residents of the residence halls have admission into their specific hall. Commuters do not have admission into any residence hall since they are not residents.

Will someone escort me to my car?

"Campus Safety and Security officers will provide an escort from remote lots to dormitories for female students who are uncomfortable walking on campus late at night." - Student Handbook

How do I buy a parking permit? How much does it cost? Where should I stick it?

 

To buy a commuter permit:

  • Go to thepermitstore.com
  • Enter "Saint Anselm College" as your "parking destination"
  • Select "St Anselm College"
  • Select "Apply".
  • Agree to the Terms and Conditions
  • Login (if you have never bought a permit or forget your password select "Forgot your password? Click Here"
  • Verify or enter your information.
  • Where it says PIN: enter your Student ID # found on the back of your SAC ID
  • Select "Buy"
  • And follow the rest of the prompts...

When you get to the receipt page, print the page. Leave this print out on the dashboard of your car to prove you have bought a permit but have not yet received it. When you receive your permit you will have to return to thepermitstore.com to activate it.

To activate your permit

  • Return back to thepermitstore.com
  • Enter "Saint Anselm College" as your "parking destination"
  • Select "St Anselm College"
  • Select "Activate"
  • Login (if you forget your password select "Forgot your password? Click Here"
  • Click "I wish to activate my permit"
  • Click "activate"

Parking permits cost $130.00 plus shipping and handling for commuters and residents

"Permits are to be displayed on the driver's side of the vehicle on the side rear window; pickup trucks on the rear windshield on the driver's side of the vehicle. Vehicles that have tinted side windows may place the permit on the lower front windshield on the driver's side. Please remove all expired permits from your vehicle. The permit authorizes the use of the appropriate designated parking facilities only. Failure to activate or properly display the permit is a violation." - Campus Security and Parking

Are there any meal plans designed for commuter students?

You can put money on your ID card to use in Davison Hall, the Coffee Shop or Common Grounds Café (in NHIOP). You can add money to your account in Davison Hall or the Business Office.

Who can I talk to about commuter issues?

 

  • Please come to the Multicultural Center and talk to Andrea Griffin
  • Email commuters@anselm.edu
  • Commuter Council Meetings last Wednesday of every month at 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the Multicultural Center or as announced.
  • Contact SGA (sga@anselm.edu). It is very important to SGA that commuters have a voice on campus.

When are Commuter Council Meetings?

The last Wednesday of every month at 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the Multicultural Center or as announced. Meetings are open to anyone (residents, commuters, faculty, etc.)
