Never before performed by the Anselmian Abbey Players, Thornton Wilder's Our Town presents the full range of life in the fictional village of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire. People there are like people anywhere else: they are born, they fall on love, they die. Ordinary people leading ordinary lives. Or so we might believe, until the Stage Manager-our guide for the experience-helps us glimpse how extraordinary even the most ordinary of lives can be.Wilder's American classic beautifully balances poetry, humor, universality and emotion in a way which makes it as resonant today as it was at its premiere in 1938. The Players will present this Pulitzer Prize-winning play in modern dress, supported with the traditional handful of tables and chairs and two ladders.
