Jennifer Lucas

Assistant Professor, Politics
Women and Politics
Have you ever wondered if the news media pays too much attention to female politicians' clothing or if Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton get a bad rap because they are women? Politics professor Jennifer Lucas loves discussing these kinds of issues and views. Her interest in women and politics has led her to research the communication styles of women in congress as well as the links between the media, gender, and negative political campaigning. Her interests have also become a personal mission to prepare young women for leadership. With professor Elizabeth Ossoff, Lucas runs NEW Leadership New England, a summer training program designed to educate and empower undergraduate women. When she's not talking politics, Lucas likes to bike and cheer on her alma mater's basketball team.
