Search Tips

The following search tips are effective in searching both the book and journal databases, unless otherwise specified.

  • Use Boolean Operators (AND, OR):  sound and waves
  • Use truncation symbols (usually an asterisk): sound and wave*
  • Limit your search words to SUBJECT, TITLE, or ABSTRACT
  • Limit your search to 'Periodicals' (popular reading) and to 'Academic Journals' (scholarly reading).
  • Add search word 'study' to your search and limit to ABSTRACT(see example)
  • Do not wait until the day before to complete this assignment!  It's going to take more time than you may think.
