The 417 Saint Anselm graduates who left the Hilltop behind after commencement in May are traveling far and wide to start the next chapter of their lives as Saint Anselm alumni.
Working, serving, and continuing their education in fields from medicine to broadcast journalism to finance, they're taking their Saint Anselm experience with them.
A Sampling of Recent Graduates
Katie Williams, an international relations major, is volunteering in Gros Morne, Haiti, for the next year through the Religious of Jesus and Mary. A French and environmental studies minor, she chose Haiti for a number of reasons including her interest in the country's culture and environmental issues and the organization's development of a microfinance program.
Justin Eckilson, a history major and French minor, is earning his master's in education through Providence College's PACT Program. He will attend graduate classes through the summer and then teach middle school social studies at Saint Michael School in Fall River, Mass., during the academic year. "I decided that the best way for me to live out the Anselmian identity that the school developed in me would be to educate students in the classroom--to share my love of history and all the lessons it provides," he said.
Emily Dutile and Matthew Steele, computer science majors, are attending Fidelity Investments' LEAP Program, a training and development program for recent IT graduates. After training in North Carolina, they will be placed at a Fidelity office full-time.
Steven Coyne, a biochemistry major, will attend Harvard University in the fall to earn his Ph.D. in biochemistry. This summer he continues research with Professor Brock at Saint Anselm through the NH-INBRE grant.
Caleigh MacDonald, a nursing major, was named New Hampshire Nursing Student of the Year by the New Hampshire Nurses Association. She has accepted a position in the inpatient pediatric unit at the Children's Hospital at Darmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, N.H.
Brittany Barrett, a business major, is a client manager at Cigna Health Insurance in Chicago, Ill.
Paxton Delano, a politics major, is working for New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan.
Schyler DeChane-Crawford, an accounting major, joins several Saint Anselm alumni at Single Digits where she is a junior staff accountant.
Matthew Donahue, a physics major and mathematics and Russian studies minor, is earning his master's in engineering and business at Brown University.
Stephanie Orswell, a psychology major, is attending Durham University in England earning her master's in developmental psychology.
Shaun O'Halloran, a criminal justice major, is a full-time officer for the police and security department of Massachusetts General Hospital.
Alexandra Madsen, a history major and classical archaeology and Spanish minor, is earning her master's in art history at the University of Texas.
Gregory Merrill, a financial economics major, is a wealth planning analyst for USB Financial Services, Inc., in Stamford, Conn.
Matthew Derkrikorian, RN to BSN Program, earned his second Saint Anselm degree this year. He is working at Boston Medical Center in the Adult Emergency Department, East Boston Neighborhood Health Center Emergency Department, and at Catholic Medical Center's Emergency Department, all as a Certified Emergency Nurse (RN, CEN).
