Nursing alumna, honorary degree recipient and former trustee, Dr. Joyce C. Clifford '59, H.D. '89, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N., earned an international reputation for her contributions to the field of nursing. On Oct. 21, 2011, she passed away at the age of 76 leaving behind the legacy of a remarkable woman. A widely respected nurse, educator and administrator, she inspired countless nurses and other professionals to care about and serve others as part of a meaningful life. To honor Dr. Clifford, the nursing department in collaboration with the advancement office established the Dr. Joyce C. Clifford Annual Scholarship Program. Each year this program will award scholarships, up to $5,000 each, to deserving nursing students with financial need, who embody the characteristics of Dr. Clifford: dedication, compassion, and desire to be outstanding nurse leaders.
In the 2012 fiscal year (which ended June 30, 2012), generous alumni helped raise more than $15,000 to fund five scholarships for Saint Anselm nurses!
Saint Anselm College awards $43.8 million in total aid to students each year-that's 95% of the Saint Anselm student body. It means that students can focus on their studies and not on their finances. It means that with alumni help they are able to earn a Saint Anselm College education.
