Seven weeks of business courses, paired with hours of research, market analysis, and taste testing concluded with the selection of a Saint Anselm College team as The Common Man restaurants' Cupcake Challenge winner.
In the end, it would be a caramel-apple cupcake—created by the Saint Anselm student team known as "Remember When"—that claimed the top prize, as judged by Common Man CEO Jason Lyon, and several other panelists.
Judging the event required more than a sweet tooth, as consideration was made for the business students' market research, poise, professionalism, and presentation. Students incorporated multimedia presentations, and display boards, summarizing their efforts to create a winning dessert. "The cupcake is the vehicle to showcase the skills these students have learned in their college careers," Lyon said.
The top cupcakes will now be featured on the dessert menu at several Common Man locations across New Hampshire for the holiday season.
