Charles M. Getchell, Jr., is the new director of the Geisel Library at Saint Anselm College. Before joining the Saint Anselm College staff, he was the director of the Arnold Bernhard Library at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn., for 18 years. He previously worked in the libraries at Wake Forest University and the University of Kansas.
Originally from Mississippi, Getchell holds a bachelor's degree in history from Tulane University and a master's degree in history from the University of Mississippi. He earned a master of library science degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
Getchell has been a regional accreditation visiting team member for NEASC since 2000, and has served on boards for Project MUSE (an online journals service) and NELINET, the New England Library Network. He is a mentoring partner for the College Library Directors' Mentor Program for the Association of College and Research Libraries.
