Saint Anselm College President Steven DiSalvo & Bank of Maine EVP Ted Scontras Elected to New England Council Board of Directors
BOSTON - The New England Council, a non-partisan alliance of businesses, academic and health institutions, and public and private organizations, has elected New England residents Dr. Steven DiSalvo, President of Saint Anselm College, and Ted Scontras, Executive Vice President of the Bank of Maine, to serve on its Board of Directors. The Council's Board of Directors, chaired by John Hailer, CEO of Natixis Global Asset Management, voted to elect DiSalvo and Scontras at its March 25, 2015, board meeting in Washington, DC.
"Both Steven and Ted are well-respected leaders in the New England and we are honored to have them serve on our Board of Directors," said James T. Brett, President & CEO of the Council. "Steven's background in higher education and Ted's in the financial center will certainly be tremendous assets to our organization, and I look forward to working with them to address the many economic challenges the New England region faces."
As President of Saint Anselm College, Dr. DiSalvo advances the college's national reputation through scholarship, athletics, and via its prestigious New Hampshire Institute of Politics, which hosts the Politics & Eggs series in conjunction with the Council. Dr. DiSalvo currently serves on the boards of leading national higher education organizations, such as the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), where he is the board member representing the northeastern states. Dr. DiSalvo has enjoyed a long and successful career in higher education and has previously served in leadership positions at three nationally known Jesuit universities-Fordham University, Loyola Chicago University, and Fairfield University.
As Executive Vice President of the Bank of Maine, Ted Scontras is responsible for overseeing Government Banking, and the Educational and Nonprofit sectors. In this role, he services the financial needs of governmental entities, institutions of higher education, and nonprofit entities. Mr. Scontras has many years of experience in the financial sector and previously held leadership positions at several other respected banking institutions, including TD Bank, Peoples Heritage Bank, and Fleet Bank, Mr. Scontras, a graduate of the University of Maine, Orono, is very active in the community and is currently involved with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Commission on International Education.
The New England Council, the country's oldest regional business organization, is an alliance of businesses, academic and health institutions, and public and private organizations throughout New England formed to promote economic growth and a high quality of life in the region.
