Recipients, friends and family are invited to attend this special event where senior nursing majors receive their Saint Anselm College nurse's pin. The ceremony celebrates the seniors' completion of the highly respected and rigorous nursing program. The pin symbolizes our nurses' preparedness to serve as a compassionate caregiver.
Fr. Benedict Guevin, O.S.B. is celebrant and Abbot Matthew Leavy, O.S.B. is the homilist. Fr. Benet Phillips, O.S.B. will perform the blessing of the pins. A reception in Cushing Center will follow Mass.
The Nurse's Pin
The design includes elements of the official seal of the college. The symbol of the lamp on the shield refers to Psalm 119:105
"Your word is a lamp of my steps and a light for my path."
The inscription Initium Sapientiae Timor Domini means
The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
A Nurse's Prayer
Dear Lord, please give the the strength
To face the day ahead,
Dear Lord, please give me the courage
As I approach each hurting bed.
Dear Lord, please give me the wisdom
With every word I speak
Dear Lord, give me the patience
As I comfort the sick and weak.
Dear Lord, please give me the assurance
As the day slips into night
That I have done the best I can
That I have done what is right.
