Day One: Wednesday, October 9
Reflection: Today as we begin our novena we reflect on an excerpt from a prayer of our patron, Saint Anselm:
"O Lord my God. Teach my heart this day where and how to find you. You have made me and re-made me, and you have bestowed on me all the good things I possess, and still I do not know you. I have not yet done that for which I was made. Teach me to seek you, for I cannot seek you unless you teach me, or find you unless you show yourself to me. Let me seek you in my desire; let me desire you in my seeking. Let me find you by loving you; let me love you when I find you."
Intercession: O Saint Anselm, you teach us to be seekers ever searching for the God who invites us to seek and to find. Stir our hearts with the desire to know and love God, and guide us in our ever-deepening pursuit of wisdom and understanding.
Pray the Our Father, 3 Hail Mary's, and Glory Be.
Action: Learn something new - Read an article from today's news or in current events on a topic that is new or unfamiliar to you. Thank God for the ability to learn new things!
We thought a novena to be a particularly special way for the Saint Anselm Community to prepare for and celebrate the Inauguration of our tenth President, Dr. Steven DiSalvo. Together, whether near or far, the Saint Anselm family can be in prayer for these nine days. The Novena will begin on Wednesday, October 9 and conclude on Thursday, October 17, we will then gather (here on campus or via live feed) on October 18 for the Inaugural Mass. Read more »
