History 311 (Hi 11) Ancient Greece

Class Time: Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00-5:15PM

Description of the Course: We will study the political, social and cultural history of Greece from the time of the Homer to Alexander.

Topics covered include: the Age of Homer, the development of Spartan society and military power, the rise of Athenian democracy and imperialism, the artistic creativity of Classical Athens, the tragedy of the Peloponnesian Wars, and the world of Alexander the Great.
