Description
of the Course: This course examines the political, social, economic, religious
and cultural life of Western Europe from the end of the Roman World to the High
Middle Ages. Topics covered include: the legacy of the Roman world, Germanic
warriors and Christian missionaries, the challenges posed by the rise of Islam,
the enduring strength of the Byzantine Empire, the development of the first
Europe under the Carolingians, and the flowering of Medieval Society in the
12th century.
Class Meeting Time: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 11:30AM-12:20PM
