1) According to the textbook, what were the strengths of the early Muslim armies? What were their weaknesses?
2) What various aims do you think the church sought to accomplish through the Truce of God? I do not merely want a list of the Truce's provisions. Rather, I would like some speculation about the church's objectives.
3) If you read Pope Urban II's call for a crusade carefully, you will see that the first half deals with one topic while the second half deals with a quite different one. What are these two different topics, and how does Urban II relate them?
