Food for Thought

Week 2: Tuesday, January 27

As you read Keegan, make sure to keep track of the sequence of events that transpired at Agincourt. In class, you will refight the battle on a table to figure out what happened and why.

1) According to Parker, what important changes took place in warfare during the late medieval period between 1300 and 1450?

2) What was Henry V's overall objective in the war? Why did he have to fight at Agincourt? (These are two separate questions, so don't mix them up.)

3) At Agincourt, the French must have outnumbered the English army by about 5 to 1. How did the French numerical superiority increase their vulnerability? What crucial moves did the English make that helped them win the battle?

4) What inspired soldiers to fight at Agincourt? In other words, what gave them the "will to combat"?
