Prince Rahotep and His Wife Nofret, ca. 2580 BC

A holder of many important administrative posts, Rahotep was very likely the son of King Snefru/Snofru. Walled up inside the chapel of Rahotep's mastaba and protected from the elements, these statues still look freshly painted. Both figures are about 48 inches tall and consist of painted limestone.
