Old
Man with a Child, (ca. 1480) by Domenico Ghirlandaio
As
this man with the distinctive nose lay on his deathbed, Ghirlandaio made
a sketch of him. That sketch served as a study for this painting. No one
knows who commissioned this work or the identity of the two subjects.
