The interdisciplinary Web Design certificate provides students with the knowledge and skills required to design and develop web sites. In the course of their studies students will learn how humans process information and how to graphically represent information in a useful and meaningful way. Upon completion of this certificate students will be prepared to design and develop web sites as communication tools for people to use and experience.
Students interested in the certificate should contact the certificate director, Dr. Carol Traynor of the Computer Science Department. Dr. Traynor’s office is located on the second floor of Poisson Hall Room 205. She can also be contacted at ctraynor@anselm.edu or 656-6021.
Requirements of the Certificate Program:
- Full-time degree candidates from any major.
- Formal registration for the certificate should be completed not later than the second semester of the junior year.
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of “C+” is required at the time of registration.
- Successful completion of five courses selected from the lists below, (2 computer science, 2 fine arts, and cognitive psychology). No course for which a grade of less than “C” is earned will be accepted toward the certificate.
- A final project that demonstrates the student’s competency in web design and development. The project could include the development and design of a new website or the evaluation and re-design of an existing site.
- A comprehensive oral examination including presentation of the final project.

CS450 Selected Topics as appropriate and approved by the certificate chairperson.
Fine Arts Courses
Students must pick 2 courses from:

FA278 Visual Communication
FA367 Digital Imaging and Computer Art II
FA368 Art and Design for the Web
Special Topics as appropriate and approved by the certificate chairperson.
