Research: Pioneering in the Lab—or Wherever

College research is an integral part of the learning experience at Saint Anselm. Spanning across many disciplines, student research fosters strong student-faculty relationships while allowing you to gain invaluable hands-on experience within a given subject. Because of our small class size (average of 18 students) and individual attention from faculty, you have unlimited opportunities to work independently or alongside faculty.

Whether investigating sleep disorders in our state-of-the-art sleep lab, assessing water quality in a local river, or examining ancient ruins in Crete during summer study abroad, the opportunities for you to conduct in-depth research are unlimited.

You may also participate in the college's Undergraduate Research Scholar Program (URSP). Sponsored nationally by the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE), the program matches you, as an undergraduate researcher, with two faculty mentors: one from Saint Anselm and one from a university of your choosing. You propose a topic, conduct research over the summer at a host university, and present your findings in a symposium open to the college community. One of URSP's goals is to increase the number of admissions to graduate school for students attending small, four-year, liberal arts colleges.
