Professor Romps has been a member of the Saint Anselm College Department of Economics and Business since the fall of 1969. He has also taught at the University of New Hampshire and Fordham University. His main areas of teaching are in economics, money & banking, investments, and economic history. He is a forensic economist testifying as an expert on the subject of economic losses since 1971. His main area of research involves New Hampshire banking. The closing of five Manchester banks in 1991 and the economic aftermath of that closing is one area of interest. Currently he is writing a history of St. Mary's Bank, the nation's first and longest lasting credit union.
