Dr. Gleason's teaching emphases are nineteenth and twentieth-century American literature, twentieth century Irish literature, and creative writing (poetry and fiction). A former chair of the department (1990-1995), he has taught at Saint Anselm since 1968, having completed graduate and doctoral work at Northeastern University and The Catholic University of America.

Dr. Gleason has delivered and/or published papers on the following literary figures: F. Scott Fitzgerald, Andre Dubus, and James Agee, and James Joyce. His extra-disciplinary interests in jazz, photography, and film have resulted in lecturing engagements on those topics as well.
