Dr. Keith Williams teaches nineteenth and twentieth-century African American Literature and American Literature. In addition to general survey courses in these areas, he teaches specialized topics on such areas as the U.S. Civil War and the Harlem Renaissance. Dr. Williams came to Saint Anselm in 2007.  He holds degrees from the University of Calgary, and a Ph.D. from Cornell University.

Dr. Williams’s primary research interest is in slave narratives and neo-slavery texts. He has published on topics ranging from Othello to Charles Chesnutt, and presented at numerous conferences.

At Saint Anselm, he is faculty co-advisor to the Black Student Coalition, and the literary magazine, Quatrain.  He also serves on the delegate assembly, the elective body of the Modern Language Association.
