Sigma Theta Tau, Epsilon Tau Chapter

Welcome to our Chapter Web site!

Did you know that you are now on Facebook?   Facebook, the social networking website is the 6th most frequently visited web site in the United States.  It allows members to exchange photos and communicate with others on line.  Two of our new graduate members, Erin Latina and Leslie Burnham created a Facebook page for the Epsilon Tau chapter.  Leslie thinks we may be the first Sigma chapter to have such a page.  Over the next year Epsilon Tau will continue to broaden its ways of communicating with members so that you will be able to learn about us through Facebook, our WEB site, and e-mails as well as the traditional newsletter.

The Board of Directors was fortunate to have Erin and Leslie working with us as we developed our strategic plan for the next two years.  By moving the chapter’s induction ceremony from its traditional date in the spring to the fall we anticipate that more of our student and new graduate members will have the opportunity to be actively involved in the chapter and to provide us with such fresh ideas.

Over the next two years, we hope to encourage the participation of all our members from our most recent inductees to those of you, like me, who were inducted 35 years ago (or more).   When the Board of Directors met to develop the strategic plan, we discussed how fortunate we are to be an organization that has members just beginning to practice as well as members who have grown and developed with the profession.

We also realized that most of us are in some form of transition.  Some of us are just beginning to practice nursing or learning to conduct research.  Others are transitioning to new areas of practice, perhaps assuming faculty or leadership roles.  While another group of us is considering transition to retirement.  However, there are members of this chapter who have made each of those transitions.  Therefore, the board chose to focus our strategic plan for the next two years on ways that we can assist each other through these transitions by networking and mentoring.  After all, when we share our expertise, exciting ideas like the Facebook page result.

Sincerely,

Kathy Perrin
President, Epsilon Tau Chapter
