Liberal Studies in the Great Books
The Liberal Studies in the Great Books major, administered by the Philosophy Department. Majors are required to take Great Books Seminars (GBS) 261, 262, 263, 264, 265, 266, and two preceptorials (Philosophy 467-469). In addition to Philosophy 105 Nature and the Human Person which is required of all students, majors must take Honors Ethics (PH107) and three additional courses in systematic philosophy: Formal Logic (PH321), Metaphysics (PH325) and Philosophy of Science (PH331). Majors must also successfully complete a Fine Arts elective (exclusive of studio courses) and two English Literature electives.
