Kathleen Flannery received her Ph.D. in Psychology from Brandeis University in 1993.  She also received her M.A. from Brandeis University in 1987 and her A.B. in Psychobiology from Smith College in 1984.  She joined the Psychology Department at Saint Anselm College in 1995.

Professor Flannery has published her research in journals such as The Journal of Learning Disabilities, Cyberpsychology & Behavior and Child Neuropsychology. She recently led fellow researchers in a roundtable discussion regarding IRB issues for research concerning children’s spirituality at the SRCD pre-conference, March 2007. Her many presentations at the annual Eastern Psychological Association Conference reflect research generated from her faculty-student teams in Cognitive Psychology and Developmental Psychology.

Professor Flannery’s areas of research interests include male vulnerability for neurodevelopmental disorders, gender differences in human virtual navigation, and developmental models for implicit memory.  She has recently expanded her research programs to include interdisciplinary work on children’s spiritual development as well as children’s understanding of peace and war. Support for her research has come from funding through the National Science Foundation and Faculty Summer Research Grants (Saint Anselm College).

Professor Flannery is a member of the Society for Research in Child Development, the Society for Neuroscience, the Eastern Psychological Association, and the New England Psychological Association.
