This section of the Advisor Handbook contains information on the conceptual components of academic advisement.  The conceptual components include the concepts and theories that serve as a framework for academic advisement.  These include the definition and theories of advising; role of advising in student development; relationship of advising to student persistence and retention; and the roles and responsibilities of advisors and advisees.
