Students who receive additional time and/or a special environment for exams will take their exams in the Office of Academic Advisement, Cushing 2nd floor unless they have made prior arrangements with their professor. Students must complete each of the following steps to arrange for their accommodations for each exam during the regular semester. Students are contacted at the end of each semester to arrange for final exams.

I. Office of Academic Advisement Notification
Students are expected to notify the Office of Academic Advisement at least three days prior to their exam for which they will utilize accommodations. Students who do not inform the Office of Academic Advisement at least three days prior may not receive academic accommodations. It will depend upon the space availability in the Office of Academic Advisement and the professor's availability as to whether accommodations can or will be provided.

Students who arrive at the Office of Academic Advisement to take an exam who have not notified the Office may be asked to return to the classroom to take the exam with the rest of the class. While students may have the right to additional time, they also have a responsibility to arrange for their accommodations.

II. Procedure to Notify
To notify the Office of Academic Advisement of an exam, students should do one of the following:

  1. call the Office of Academic Advisement at (603) 641-7465
  2. stop by the Office of Academic Advisement, Cushing 2nd floor

Students should give the following information when scheduling an exam:

  1. their name
  2. the course name and section
  3. the professor's name
  4. the date and time of the regular administration of the exam.

If another class conflicts with the student's ability to use double time on an exam, the student must call or stop by the office, rather than e-mail, to discuss scheduling options.

If a student does not intend to use academic accommodations for an exam, he or she does not need to notify the Office of Academic Advisement.

III. Faculty Notification
At least three days prior to each exam, students are expected to remind their professors that they receive academic accommodations and that the professor is to send the exam to the Office of Academic Advisement. If the student does not inform or remind the professor, the student may not receive academic accommodations. A professor may provide academic accommodations for his or her student, in which case the student should make the necessary arrangements directly with the professor.

IV. Reporting to the Office of Academic Advisement
The student should report to the Office of Academic Advisement to take their exams on the day and at the time the exam is scheduled. The student should arrive approximately 10 minutes prior to the start of the exam. If the student arrives late, that time will be deducted from the allotted time to take the exam.
