The Faith In Action program is organized through the Office of Campus Ministry. The program, through its student leaders, seeks to guide participants in the direction of service in the name of God through day and weekend-long trips.
Serving the people of God and thus serving God, the program seeks to live out the message of Matthew 25. It is the goal of the program to serve as an affecting experience in which the student has a greater awareness of poverty and injustice, and experiences themselves in a new arena.
It is the hope of the program that the student is awakened to the world and himself/herself in a new dimension and is refreshed by the possibilities and potential of his/her very own hands to impact the lives of others in a Christ-like way through social justices.
This semester we are offering trips to:
Feb 13-15, 2009 : St. Francis Inn, a soup kitchen in Philadelphia. Students will serve guests, as well as help in the local thrift store and bring home deliveries of food to those who are homebound.
April 4, 2009: The Agape Community, a spiritual community, Catholic in identity and ecumenical and interfaith in outreach, committed to sustainable living and an engaged practice of nonviolence. The community features a straw-bale house with solar energy, compost privy and “veggie” car run on recycled vegetable oil. Students will learn about sustainable living, nonviolence, and help on the farm.
All registrations for second semester are accepted on a rolling admission. For more information please contact Joycelin Tremblay at 603-641-7170 or jtremblay@anselm.edu.
