Yearly fund divided among departments, proportional to the number of students taught by each department in the previous year and departmental faculty FTE's. Departmental allocations are intended to help defray the costs associated with professional activities, research or curriculum development. They may be used for individual, group or departmental projects (including travel), or for the purchase of equipment related to departmental research and teaching. Funds are disbursed upon approval by the dean of the college of a written proposal submitted by the department and agreed upon by department members. The department must submit a written request if it wishes to roll over its allocation for one year for a specific purpose. Excess funds revert to the Faculty Development Fund.
