Greening Task Force Call for Applications: Student Summer Internship Positionto Conduct aGreenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory for the College(pending grant approval)

The College’s Greening Task Force is seeking applications for a paid summer internship ($2,800) from May 18 through July 10 2009 to support a student who will conduct a Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory (GGEI) for the college. The intern will compile and enter data into a database that will establish a baseline of the College’s energy use (carbon footprint) using Clean Air-Cool Planet’s Campus Carbon Calculator. The Calculator was adapted from and uses the same protocols as the workbook developed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for national-level inventories.

Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in MS Excel, academic maturity, a strong work ethic, an ability to work independently and communicate effectively, and enthusiasm for the project.

We expect the GGEI to provide a strong impetus for the College to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels by conserving energy and shifting to sustainable energy sources. This initiative will enable the student to apply data collection and analysis skills to a real-world issue of global significance.

Applications should include:

  • Cover letter (explaining how the candidate meets the requirements of the position).
  • Resume.
  • List two (2) Faculty references.

Applications should be sent electronically to William Furlong at wfurlong@anselm.edu.

The application deadline is Friday, April 24, 2009.
