Service-learning began at Saint Anselm College in the Fall of 1988 in a social work class entitled Social Welfare (see History page). It was designed to allow students the opportunity to perform twenty (20) hours of direct service in an agency serving low-income clients and to link their experience to course content through a journal and paper.
Today, the service-learning program is offered in over 40 courses, with 25 faculty members, in 15 academic departments, at over 35 sites in the greater Manchester community. Below is a semester by semester look at our service-learning program.
