The Meelia Center provides opportunities for students to become leaders in support of campus service activity. Student coordinators perform a range of administrative functions which are explained below on the job descriptions.

Assistant Director

America Reads, Coordinator
AmeriCorps Leaders


Office Management:

Assistant Director
Responsibilities Include:

  • Works closely with the director to ensure coordinators are taking on a leadership role
  • Assist with training of coordinator staff
  • Oversee and support the work of the coordinator staff
  • Help manage monthly staff meetings
  • Oversee the management the data on volunteers and service-learners


Office Manager
Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee scheduling and duties of office assistants
  • Oversee the office, keep it stocked with supplies
  • Help with communication between student coordinators and Office Assistants
  • Help oversee the work of the Service Events Coordinators
  • Make sure timesheets are properly filled out and handed in
  • Ensure updated and accurate records



Transportation Coordinator - Devon Katz (dkatz@anselm.edu)
Responsibilities Include:
  • Help manage the scheduling of the two MCCS cars 
  • Make sure all insurance information and paperwork is kept up to date for all student drivers


Information Management - Mike Sartori  (msartori@anselm.edu)
Responsibilities Include:

  • Keep Service Learning and Volunteer databases up to date
  • Update website with any new information, dates, etc


Office Assistant
Responsibilities include:

  • Daily support tasks in the office
  • Making posters and developing other recruitment strategies
  • Respond to student and agency questions


Service Coordinators:

Lead Coordinator
Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and place volunteers
  • Maintain communication with Agency
  • Maintain communication and records of coordinators and volunteers
  • Work with coordinators to address problems etc.



On-site Coordinator
Responsibilities include:
  • Performing weekly service at a community site of your choice
  • Help that agency to define volunteer needs for a range of student interests
  • Recruiting and placing volunteers at site
  • Creating new opportunities to meet student interests
  • Helping to ensure that volunteers are effectively oriented, monitored, supported and evaluated



Affiliates Coordinator
Responsibilities Include:
Mange and maintain multiple agencies and support the volunteers at those sites.


Special Events
Responsibilities Include:
Help coordinate 8-10 special one-day service events throughout the year



America Reads: 

America Reads, Tutor
Responsibilities include:
  • Work with agency to identify kids in need of literacy service
  • Develop appropriate strategies, materials, and incentives to motivate reading efforts
  • Help to recruit new America Reads tutors
  • Help build library of literacy materials


America Reads, Coordinator
Responsibilities include:

  • Connecting teachers with literacy program to make sure they are ware of America Reads and the program
  • Increase literacy skills among students
  • Hold meeting with tutors to share ideas about literacy
  • Make sure volunteers understand their role of being a tutor


AmeriCorps Education Award:

Americorps Coordinator
Responsibilities Include:
Full time students serving as part-time AmeriCorps

  • These key student leaders assume greater leadership responsibility at the Meelia Center
  • For their National service through the Center AmeriCorps earn an educational stipend in addition to their work-study
  • Leadership training and development opportunities through statewide campus coalition
  • Opportunities for networking with other AmeriCorps across the state (specific duties depend on participant's interest)
