In the Benedictine tradition of hospitality, the Multicultural Center encourages all Saint Anselm College students to drop in to meet new friends and enjoy relaxing conversation.
Campus events are scheduled throughout the school year which increase awareness of the varied talents and backgrounds of our students, promote cultural enrichment, and enhance global education.
Diversity at the college is celebrated at informal international coffees featuring food, music, and traditions from cultures represented by our students, at our annual Multicultural Day in September, during global awareness discussions in the Center, during our Fall and Spring New York City Museum bus trips, and at scheduled concerts and performances.
The four principles that guide our work are: building community, valuing social justice, supporting the academic mission, and facilitating individual transformation.

CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION
Saturday, February 13, 2010
12pm, Hilary Lounge
Free Food!
Chinese New Year is also known as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival. It is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first month in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th; this day is called Lantern Festival.
On the Western calendar, the start of the New Year falls on Sunday, February 14, 2010 — The Year of the Tiger. The Chinese zodiac is too old to be traced. Fable has it that all the animals were asked to report to the emperor on Chinese New Year’s Day. Only the first twelve to reach the palace were to be rewarded with a year named after them. Since then, each year has been represented by an animal with its own distinctive characteristic and fate.
