Built in 1982, the facility is named in honor of Saint Anselm alumnus John Maurus Carr '34, a benefactor and member of the College's Board of Trustees for many years and a former president of the alumni association.
Featuring three regulation size basketball/volleyball/tennis courts, the facility also features three regulation racquetball courts, a weight room/training facility, and is home to the Saint Anselm Athletic's administrative offices. A favorite location for Saint Anselm students, the Carr Center allows for a number of different activities to occur at once, including organized club sports, volunteer programs, sports clinics, or a simple pickup basketball game. The student body has made good use of the center, hosting college socials as well a recent number of music concerts including well know musicians such as The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Letters to Cleo, Rusted Root, and L.L. Cool J.
