"The Center for Volunteers creates opportunities for Saint Anselm students to say, 'I'm part of this world and I want to do my best. I want to make a difference.' They're at an impressionable age and are forming their core values. Giving their time-and themselves-in service to others is something we're happy to help them experience."

Richard Meelia '71 is a member of the College's Board of Trustees and is president and CEO of Tyco Healthcare Group. In addition to their close involvement with Saint Anselm, he and his wife, Judy, work with Por Cristo, which provides medical services in partnership with the health care community in Ecuador, and the Chernobyl Children's Project. The Meelias and other host families extend love, medical care, and "hope for a better life" each summer to children from the devastated Ukraine region of Russia.
