Charles O'Connor
To those of you with fond memories of "HaruGari Hockey" and post game celebrations at the West Side social club, Charles is still skating. He's come out of "retirement" to skate a charity benefit season in the Cape Cod Roller Hockey League (CCRHL) with the hope of increasing awareness to the plight of battered women on Cape Cod and more importantly, to raise funds for Independence House, Cape Cod's only comprehensive resource for victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence. Independence House, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization, established in 1979 to serve the needs of battered women and their children. Charles has not played a league game in over 30 years and is skating against “kids” in their twenties who weren’t even born the last time he played. The season consists of15 games and playoffs. He's taking a beating playing defense but it's all for a good cause. As long as he's still skating...we're all still young! Best wishes to all.
