A solid defense can make all the difference. Just ask Andrew Roy '07, goalie for the Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team. The same may be said of his annual scholarship, which he is quick to point out made a big difference in his educational pursuits.
"The Peter M. Carroll Annual Scholarship allowed me to attend a college that I may not have otherwise been able to. I am receiving a great education and making associations that I am sure I will have for the rest of my life."
A criminal justice major from Westford, Mass, Andrew spends his time off the field volunteering in the Manchester area and studying to eventually put his defense skills to use in the courtroom. He credits a strong academic program and positive family influence as key factors in his career decisions.
"My father is a Lieutenant on the Westford Police Department, so I grew up with a lot of respect for law enforcement. His guidance helped me to pursue a career in law and the courses at Saint Anselm have focused my interest in law school."
Andrew also recognizes the importance of his scholarship. "I feel the donor made a personal commitment to me. Through his generosity, he expressed confidence in my ability to succeed at Saint Anselm and in life."
