Colorado Springs, Colo. -- Saint Anselm women's ice hockey head coach David Flint has been named as the goaltending consultant for the entire United States Women's National Program, as announced today by USA Hockey. In addition to coaching at Saint Anselm, Flint will work with the United States Select 17-18 Team, the Under-18 and Under-22 National Teams and the Over-22 National Team that will eventually compete in the next Olympic Games.
"I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to work with such great athletes and coaches in the U.S. Women's National Program" said Flint. "I feel I have a lot to offer in the area of goaltending, which is still my passion."
As the goaltending consultant for the entire National Team program, Flint will take part in a number of events on both the domestic and international level. In June, Flint was in Lake Placid, N.Y., helping to select the goaltenders for the Under-18 National Team. In mid-August, he will be evaluating the goalies for the Under-18, Under-22 and Over-22 U.S. National Teams at the National Festival Cup, which is also set to take place in Lake Placid. In late August, Flint returns as part of the staff that will take part in a three-game series between the United States Under-22 Team and the Canadian Under-22 National Team. In late December, each of the U.S. National Teams will take part in the Holiday Festival Cup, where coach Flint will evaluate the goaltenders at each level of the National program.
Flint is coming off his third-straight 20-win season and his second straight ECAC East Coach of the Year award. The Hawks finished with a 24-3-0 record and captured the ECAC East Regular-Season Championship with an 18-1-0 conference mark. The team also captured its second ECAC Open Tournament Championship and led the nation in both scoring offense and scoring defense. The Hawks lost just three games during the regular season, with each of those losses coming to top-10 nationally-ranked opponents. In his three seasons as head coach, Flint's teams have posted an impressive 65-13-1 overall record. His .823 winning percentage is the best in the nation in Division II/III during that three-year stretch.
