Manchester, N.H. (November 28) -- The women's hockey team charged to its fourth straight victory to open the season on Wednesday night, defeating Colby, 3-2, at Sullivan Arena. The loss drops the Colby College White Mules to 1-2-1 overall.

The Hawks scored the first goal of the game again, marking the fourth time in four tries the Hawks have lit up the scoreboard first. Lindsay Snow (Amherst, N.H.) scored at the 5:49 mark, assisted by Samantha Rowe (Chelmsford, Mass.). The Hawks took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

Colby evened the score with a power play goal from Lauren Goethals (Needham, Mass.) at the 9:02 mark in the second frame, assisted by Stephanie Scarpato (Osterville, Mass.). Saint Anselm responded shortly after, as Cindy Lebel (Greenville, Maine) rifled a low slapshot, finding the five-hole of goaltender Genevieve Triganne (Pointe-Claire, Quebec) at the 14:40 mark. The goal was assisted by Rowe and Tiea Kurlowecz (Concord, Mass.). The Hawks took the 2-1 lead into the third period.

Brittany Kretzman (Edina, Minn.) netted her first goal of the season, a power play goal, at the 11:12 mark of the third period giving the Hawks the 3-1 lead, assisted by Kelsey Johnson (Byfield, Mass.). Colby's Stephanie Scarpato scored a power play goal with just 28 seconds remaining, bringing the Mules to within one. Colby pulled Triganne and put the pressure on, keeping the puck in the Saint Anselm end for the entire 28 seconds, but the White Mules did not net the equalizer.

Andrea Berlin (Durham, N.H.) picked up her second win of the season in net making 18 saves. Triganne made 25 saves in the loss.

The Hawks return to the ice on Saturday, traveling to Saint Michael's for a 3:00 p.m. start.
