Colchester, Vt. (January 15) – The women’s hockey team made it 12 straight wins to open the season, taking down Saint Michael’s, 4-0, Tuesday afternoon in ECAC East action. The win improves the Hawks to 12-0-0, 9-0-0 ECAC East, while the Ice Knights drop to 3-7-1, 3-5-1 in league play.
After a scoreless first period, the Hawks scored three goals late in the second frame. Kathleen Twomey (Londonderry, N.H.) scored her ninth goal of the season at the 15:26 mark, assisted by Daniella Lyons (Greene, Maine) and Arianna Rigano (Malden, Mass.). Samantha Rowe (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season at the 16:21 mark, assisted by Kasey Cedorchuk (Charlestown, Mass.) and Brittany Kretzman (Edina, Minn.). Daniella Lyons then added her second goal of the season at the 19:00 mark, assisted by Twomey and Rigano.
Bianca DeSantis (Georgetown, Mass.) polished off the scoring for the Hawks at the 2:05 mark in the third period, assisted by Daniella Lyons.
Jen Taylor (Canandaigua, N.Y.) picked up her third win of the season in net, notching 17 saves on the afternoon.
The Hawks return to the ice Friday, hosting in-state rival New England College at 7 p.m. at Sullivan Arena.
