Hawks Down Chargers by 19-7 Final

Hillburn, N.Y. (March 2) -- On Sunday afternoon, the Saint Anselm men's lacrosse team defeated Dominican by a 19-7 final in non-conference play at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.

The Hawks jumped out to a 9-1 halftime lead and never looked back as the team rebounded from a loss to Adelphi on Friday night. Junior standout Chris Murphy (Winchester, Mass.) led the Hawks with four goals, while Matt Surette (Wakefield, Mass.) posted a hat trick. Mike McClain (Milton, Mass.), Kevin DeBenedetto (Reading, Mass.) and Steve Trocki (Braintree, Mass.) each posted a pair of goals. Dan Flynn (Wakefield, Mass.) picked up five saves to get the victory. Pat Acone (Bow, N.H.) and Brian Gerow (Methuen, Mass.) both saw action in net as well for the Hawks.

With the win, the Hawks improve to 2-1 overall, while Dominican drops to 0-1 on the season. Saint Anselm is back in action on Saturday, March 8th as the Hawks host NYIT for a non-league game beginning at 1 p.m. That game is scheduled to take place at Manchester West High School in Manchester, N.H.
