Cape Cod, Mass. (March 7) -- Commissioner of the ECAC, Rudy Keeling, announced today the ECAC Women's East All-Conference teams for the 2007-08 season. The team is voted on by the coaches of the league each year.
Kelsey Johnson (Byfield, Mass.) of the Saint Anselm women's hockey team earned Player of the Year honors in the Women's East for the 2007-08 season. The junior forward finished the season with 37 points overall, with 22 goals and 15 assists. Johnson logged an impressive 10 power-play goals, along with two short-handed goals, and four game-winners throughout the season. In ECAC East action, Johnson had 18 goals and 12 assists for 30 points, tying her for fourth in league scoring. Johnson finished in the top-ten in three statistical categories in NCAA Division II/III women's hockey. Her 1.48 points per game ranked her ninth, while her 0.88 goals per game ranked her tied for fourth in the nation. Her 10 power play goals ranked her tied for second in the nation.

Andrea Berlin (Durham, N.H.) of the Saint Anselm women's hockey team was voted Goalie of the Year. The senior goaltender finished the season 14-2-1 between the pipes, with an impressive .944 save percentage, a 1.00 goals against average, and finished the season with six shutouts. In league play, Berlin had a 9-1-1 record, 0.81 goals against average, and a .952 save percentage. Berlin's 1.00 goals against average ranked her sixth in NCAA Division II/III women's hockey, while her .944 save percentage ranked her seventh in the nation. Berlin was also named to the ECAC Women's Open All-Tournament Team to end her senior season, allowing only two goals in two games against Holy Cross and Sacred Heart.
Arianna Rigano (Malden, Mass.), Cindy Lebel (Greenville, Maine), and Daniella Lyons (Greene, Maine) were all Second-Team All-Conference selections for their play during the season. Rigano finished the season as Saint Anselm's top point scorer with 22 goals and 16 assists for 38 points. Lebel, despite being out for eight games due to a shoulder injury, still finished the season with six points and 11 assists on defense for 17 points. Lyons had five goals and was second on the team with 16 assists for 21 points.
Alexa Hingston (Charlestown, Mass.) was an All-Rookie Team selection for her efforts in her first year on the ice for the Hawks. Hingston led all freshmen on the team with eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points on defense. Hingston finished second on the team among all defensemen with her 19 points, falling just shy of teammate, Daniella Lyons. Hingston played solid defense for the Hawks all season, making few mistakes in the defensive zone.
The Hawks finished the season 23-2-1, while the team went 17-1-1 in ECAC Women's East action winning the regular season title. The Hawks also won the ECAC Women's Open crown with convincing 7-0 and 7-2 victories over Holy Cross and Sacred Heart, respectively.
