Hawks Drop 19-3 Final to Stonehill

Easton, Mass. (March 22) -- The women's lacrosse team dropped a 19-3 final on Saturday afternoon at Stonehill. The loss drops the Hawks to 2-4, 1-2 Northeast-10. The win improves Stonehill to 3-0, 2-0 in league play.

Stonehill jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Hawks struck for two goals to cut the lead in half. Tiea Kurlowecz (Concord, Mass.) scored at the 14:08 mark, assisted by Michaela Rocha (Rye, N.H.) to cut the lead to 4-1. Arden Lyons (Westford, Mass.) then struck just 21 seconds later to chop the lead in half at 4-2. Stonehill netted another goal to take a 5-2 lead but Courtney Ford (Concord, Mass.) scored unassisted at the 19:06 mark to go back down by two to the Skyhawks. The Skyhawks then netted nine straight unaswered goals to take a commanding 14-3 lead.

The Hawks failed to score in the second half, as Stonehill added five more goals in the second half, three of which from Michelle Kelly (Mendham, N.J.), as the Skyhawks cruised to the 19-3 win.

Katherine O'Hara (Norwell, Mass.) made seven saves in the loss and Sheila Withey (Las Vegas, Nev.) made one save in replacement of O'Hara late in the second half without allowing any goals.

The Hawks return to the field on Saturday, March 29th, scheduled to host Bentley at 1 p.m.
