Six members of the Saint Anselm women's basketball team were honored at the annual Student-Athlete Honors reception, held at the North Lounge in the Cushing Center.
Grace Harrington, Erin Higgins, Katie Larkin and Courtney May were all recognized for having a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher in the previous semester. Cassandra Loftus and Jamie Vessels were each inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National Student-Athlete Honor Society. To be eligible for the honor society, one must have a 3.4 cumulative grade point average or higher and be at least a junior.
"I am extremely pleased to have had six members of the women’s basketball program honored at the Student-Athlete Academic Honors reception," said head coach Chris Leazier. "Our efforts to rebuild the women’s basketball program at Saint Anselm will rely on the qualities of self-discipline, commitment, sacrifice and effort. Based on their academic achievements, these six young women have shown that they possess these important qualities. Cassandra, Jamie, Grace, Erin, Courtney and Katie are to be commended for their demonstrated ability to balance their academic commitments with their athletic responsibilities. I am not only proud of their accomplishments in the classroom, but consider it a privilege to be their coach."
